Rothesay Road Cemetery: Proper title The General Cemetery. Located on the eastern side of town was opened in 1854 to meet the growing need for burial space in an expending town. It was a private company, as were must cemeteries of that time and remained so until it was taken over by the Borough in the 1940. There are to date 36,661 people buried there on an 12 acre site.
